Sometimes the very thing that's preventing us from moving forward is our inability to let go of past experiences. It's easy to get caught in the trap where we believe our best days or even our best bodies are behind us. As a result, we then begin to negate the journey we've been on, with all the challenges we've had to overcome, to get us to this point.
Who we were in the past has helped us to become who we are now and we have to give honor to the present version of ourselves. We are wiser and stronger in many ways, which might not always show up physically. We can choose to live our lives looking in the rear view mirror at our yesterdays or we can choose to look ahead at our todays and tomorrows---both a present and a future filled with many possibilities. It really is our choice to make.
Our best days can be ahead of us, as well as the best version of ourselves. We only need to look forward.
